Make yourself proud

I find myself always holding myself accountable, but not for the right reasons… I seem to want others’ validation and proudness, but not my own. I do things for other people, my parents, boyfriend, friends, teachers, family; always trying to prove myself to them and keep myself to their standards they have set for me.

Truth is, their standards for me are higher than I set my own standards, and I ask myself why don’t I set my standards and why don’t I set them higher than theirs?

Embrace the glorious mess that you are is what I stand for. It means loving and accepting yourself for who you are, the perks and the flaws, and at the same time improving yourself to reach your full potential.

Well, here is my flaw. Trying to make others proud and keep them happy/satisfied. I should be making myself proud. I shouldn’t be doing things for others, but myself.

I have many big dreams and goals, yet I don’t seem to go after them with the needed passion and effort. If I am being honest with myself I am lazy (p.s another flaw that needs improvement😌) and don’t want things in life enough to make myself proud.

I want to be proud of myself, I want to look at my achievements and see how far I’ve come. I want to achieve my goals and dreams and then get new and bigger ones to achieve. In the end, it is time that I want to make myself proud.

You should want to make yourself proud.

Go after what you want. Put all your passion and effort into your goals and hobbies and your career/studies. Achieve things for yourself and nobody else.

Stop wanting approval from others. Stop doing things because it will make others happy. Do things because it makes you happy. In the end, you’ll always have yourself.

Ways to make yourself feel proud of yourself

Visualize your highest self and start showing up as her/him

🌸Complete goals, whether they are big or small

-Take your goals and dreams seriously

-Set daily, weekly and monthly goals, and even more long-term goals.

-Write your goals down and put them where you can see them.

Action. You won’t achieve any goals if you don’t follow them up with action.

🌸Give your best/all in everything you do

If you give your all and you don’t get the results you wanted, you will still be proud of yourself because you did everything you could have done. At least you tried and I hope you keep on trying.

🌸Find ways to add value to the world

Kindness and the impact it can make are so underrated. It is a small way to make a huge difference.

Having a more positive mindset can raise the mood around you.

🌸See how far you’ve already come. Appreciate your achievements thus far

I hope you found something of value in this blog post.

Remember: Make yourself proud

Much love and abundance

  1. Happy birthday, Karlien! ❤ It sounds like you are on the right track! One thing I have always found helpful is to ask advice from several people, think about it, and make up your own mind. Just don't get advice from anyone who thinks you have to take their advice because you asked! 🙂
